Say no, no to Alcho!
As of May 9, 2010, my boyfriend and I have stopped drinking alcohol! It really hasn’t been that difficult for me. I was already cutting back before that. Then I had 1 last hurrah before I said no, no to the Alcoh. There have been a couple times where I was challenged. At my co-worker’s going away party a round of patron shots were bought in his honor. I also love me some wine, and was slightly tempted by a glass of wine when mellowing out at The Jazz Kitchen. But other than that, I haven’t really had the desire. When I go clubbing with the girls, I just order me a glass of straight cranberry juice and throw a little lime wedge in it for some flair. It passes really nice and beats just drinking water if I want some flavor. A couple of times I’ve actually indirectly rubbed off my girls and we had an alcohol-free night just by avoiding the bar.
A few have asked when I’m going to start back. I don’t really plan to start back, but certain vacations I may get a glass or two of wine. This probably will include my cruise that I’m taking later this year. Other than that, I haven’t really wanted to drink and remember how gross it made me feel when I would get sick. This has just been a personal choice. I don’t look down upon those that drink, and I actually like being the designated driver so I can be more certain that I will get home safely. All in all, it’s been going pretty well and keeping those extra calories off the tummy, isn’t so bad either.
*chuckling* at JSad “not looking down on those who chose to drink”. My how times have changed…

That is a win Jazz! Welcome to the world of the non-drinkers. Its funny, people have been asking me my entire adult life “How I do it”…I suppose its like any other thing… Its a choice, and you’ll find that it will get easier.
Outside of being the DD , I love being the Designated Memory of the group. Oh the stories you will be able to tell…And the bar tenders get real challenged (but come up with some wonders) when you ask for a snazzy drink minus the liq.
I am so happy to welcome another member to the team, we are few in numbers…but oh so mighty…and sober of course
